The mother of a Scots teenager in a coma after being hit by a van has spoken of her “living hell” as her son fights for his life.
Flynn Scott is in a critical condition at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the accident, which took place near the A944 Kingswells, Westhill and Alford junction on May 29.
Police Scotland are to be investigated over the incident involving the 18-year-old, amid claims officers helped Flynn after a night out in Aberdeen city centre shortly before he was struck by the Mercedes van.
Speaking to Aberdeen Live, Flynn’s mother Kay Scott said: “Flynn is still fighting for his life. It’s a living hell.”
The accident happened on the bypass and it is claimed Flynn attracted the attention of a police vehicle before the collision.
The police watchdog ( Police Investigations and Review Commissioner) confirmed they are looking into the “police interaction” with the teenager prior to him being struck by the vehicle.
A spokesman previously said: “About 1.55am, on Sunday, May 29, an 18-year-old pedestrian was struck by a van and critically injured on the A90 near Aberdeen.
“The PIRC is investigating police interaction with the injured party in the lead up to the collision.

“Following our investigation, a report will be submitted to the Chief Constable.”
In an update to Aberdeen Live, a PIRC spokesperson said that “its investigation was progressing”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The matter has been referred to PIRC and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
Flynn’s family has posted on social media saying that Flynn has been in a coma “fighting every step of the way” and that “he has his whole family and everyone else behind him to keep that going”.
The 18-year-old is a keen footballer and captains Westdyke Community Football Club Under 18s.
Flynn had just finished sixth year at Cults Academy and has been accepted to study International Football Management at the University Campus of Football Business’s Etihad Campus in Manchester.
Westdyke tweeted: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with our Captain and his family, friends and team mates, after a serious road accident last weekend.
“Your Westdyke family are all rooting for you – always here for you, sending so much love and strength.”
PIRC independently investigates incidents involving the police and independently reviews the way the police handle complaints from the public.
