WhatsApp may soon bring an ‘undo’ button for deleted messages

WhatsApp allows users to delete messages, and you can delete them for everyone in case you sent something wrong, even in groups (until around an hour). The “delete for everyone” has proved to be one of WhatsApp’s best features in recent years. But what if you delete a message for everyone by mistake? WhatsApp might have a solution for you as it is reportedly working on an ‘Undo’ option for deleted messages.

According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is working on a feature simply called ‘undo’ to retrieve deleted messages. The feature is said to be currently in early testing, so a small batch of WhatsApp for Android beta users are receiving the ‘undo’ feature. The feature is reportedly rolling out with the WhatsApp for Android beta version marked 2.22.13.5. The app will show users an ‘undo’ button at the bottom of the screen, which reportedly appears after a user select a message to delete for everyone.

As mentioned before, the feature is currently only available to selected beta users of WhatsApp for Android. There is no word on if and when the ‘undo’ feature will be available to other beta users for WhatsApp for Android, iOS and desktop. Also, we don’t know when this feature will ever show up on the stable build or not because there are many instances when an under-development feature never made it to the stable build.

Apart from the ‘undo’ button, WhatsApp is also working on a feature to edit a message even after it is sent. The company also recently increased the file sharing limit to 2GB from 100MB.
