Teens went on an alleged wrecking spree in a yacht harbour in Inverclyde – allegedly causing more than an estimated £100,000 worth of damage and leaving boat owners gutted.
Several youths allegedly went on the rampage at East India Harbour, Greenock, after 10pm on Monday night.
The young men allegedly boarded a number of boats, slashed upholstery and smashed windows. It is also alleged a flare was lit on one yacht which had gas cylinders on board.
A steel work vessel was allegedly set alight and alleged damage to one boat alone was estimated to be in the region of £100,000.

Eddie McCallum, 62, owner of a wooden cabin cruiser, said: “On the workboat there was a lot more petrol and a gas cylinder which could have basically acted like a bomb.
“It was well alight before the firefighters hosed it out. They did a good job. There’s been around £100,000 invested in that work boat.”
Police Scotland have confirmed that two male teens have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: “Around 11.30pm on Monday, May 30, 2022, police received a report of a vandalism in East India Harbour in Greenock, which resulted in three boats being damaged.
“Two males, aged 16 and 17 have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
“They are subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
