Air ambulance scrambled to incident on Falkirk motorway

A motorway through Falkirk was brought to a stand still during rush-hour this morning as emergency services dealt with an incident.

The alarm was raised on a section of the M876 near Larbert shortly after 7am, with scores of mercy crews spotted at the scene.

Reports from motorists passing-by suggest cops were searching a field between J1 and J2 northbound.

An air ambulance is also thought to have been scrambled to the area, along with five fire engines.

Drivers faced delays of around 40 minutes, with a diversion put in place up the M80 at J8 towards Dennyloanhead.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The was a concern for a person call.”

The woman has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were requested at 7.36am on Wednesday, June 1 to support our emergency service partners at an incident on the M876 near Larbert.

“Operations Control mobilised five appliances to the area, where firefighters assisted their partners.

“Crews thereafter left the scene.”
