Let’s make it clear that if you are doing routine tasks on the M1-powered iPad Air, you won’t really feel that significant a difference because as we said that the A14 is a really capable processor. But the M1 makes it looks unnecessarily overpowered — no one complains about more power though ever — for routine tasks on the iPad Air. Running Apple TV+, making FaceTime calls, and playing doesn’t put any sort of strain on the iPad Air.
The iPad Air’s power puts it at par with the MacBook Air but for you to use it as a laptop will require some serious cash. The Magic Keyboard is an excellent accessory for the iPad Air but it will set you back by Rs 27,900. Apple did send us the Magic Keyboard and that’s when you start as the MacBook Air replacement. The experience? Apart from the screen size, not once did we feel the need to reach out to the M1 MacBook Air. Editing photos, multitasking of all sorts, heavy-duty games — the M1 is capable of taking it on without actually breaking much sweat on the iPad Air. The iPad Air with the Magic Keyboard is really a potent combination that will make you think twice about getting an iPad Pro or even a MacBook Air. It takes time to get used to the smaller footprint of the keyboard and you will make a few silly typos. But once you get accustomed to it then the M1 processor will put a lot of other laptops to shame. No other tablet — except the iPad Pro — can deliver this level of sophisticated performance.
The iPad Pro, of course, with its Pro features, is meant for a different audience. But the iPad Air is the ultimate tablet for those who don’t want to spend way too much. One might argue that the iPad Air itself at Rs 54,999 is a bit much but the M1 processor makes it worth that extra cash you will spend on it.
The audio output on the iPad Air is really good. While listening to music or watching movies, the audio output is really immersive with a lot of details. The bass levels aren’t that great but it is very controlled. Apple is known to deliver balanced sound on all its devices and the iPad Air is no different. It’s not in the league of the iPad Pro — which has a four-speaker system — but it will satisfy the needs of most buyers.
