Britain’s Got Talent’s Ant McPartlin gets stuck in chair in ‘hilarious’ live show blunder

There was a hilarious blunder at the start of the Britain’s Got Talent semi-final tonight when co-host Ant McPartlin got stuck in a chair during a musical opening sequence.

The Mirror reports that the latest instalment of the ITV talent competition saw several acts return for the first of the live semi-finals, which are being held at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London.

Fans were treated to a performance by the cast of the musical Moulin Rouge! as the opener for the semi-final tonight, with them having taken to the stage for a medley.

It concluded with Ant and his co-host Declan Donnelly, both 46, being lowered onto the stage whilst harnessed into a giant heart which came down from the venue’s ceiling.

Things didn’t appear to go to plan though as Ant was seen struggling to unbuckle himself from the heart, when the two presenters were meant to head to the front of the stage.

He was heard saying: “Ooh, I’m stuck. I’m stuck on the chair.”

Dancers were seen helping to free him from the buckle, with him looking amused as he eventually joined Dec.

And the blunder didn’t go unnoticed by viewers of the show tonight, with several of them taking to social media platform Twitter earlier to share their own amusement.

“Ant not being able to get off his chair in the opening was the best thing ever,” tweeted one viewer this evening following the opening involving the West End cast.

Another wrote following the opening sequence: “Ant got stuck on the entrance. Hilarious.” This viewer included a laughing emoji in their tweet, which was posted earlier.
