Silent Auction leads to Perth Rotary’s £10K cheque for Macmillan care

The Rotary Club of Perth has presented a cheque for £10,000 to Cornhill Macmillan Centre at Perth Royal infirmary.

The money was raised during the 2021 Perth Silent Auction organised by Rotary in partnership with the Perthshire Advertiser.

These funds will be used to help the staff in the Centre deliver palliative care education to the heath and social care professionals working in the community and hospitals within Perth and Kinross.

The Cornhill Centre is a purpose built Specialist Palliative Care Unit and is dedicated to providing care for people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

Perth Rotary has been supporting Cornhill for many years and President Joe Cairns said : “We are delighted to continue supporting the Cornhill team and a big thank you is due to the people and businesses around Perth for making this possible by contributing so generously to the Perth Silent Auction and also to the readers of the Perthshire Advertiser.”

In thanking President Joe for the donation, Dr Claire Douglas, Consultant Palliative Medicine, NHS Tayside, said: “These funds will be well used and allow us to develop programmes in the training of staff which in turn will enable us to provide a better service for the people of Perth and Kinross.”
