Sister of missing Ayrshire child Sandy Davidson marks 46th anniversary since he vanished

The sister of a missing Ayrshire child has marked the 46th anniversary of his disappearance.

Sandy Davidson vanished from his grandparents’ garden in Bourtreehill on April 23, 1976, when he was just three years old.

The tot – who is one of the country’s oldest missing persons cases – had been playing with little sister Donna when he is believed to have chased a family pet dog out of the garden gate.

Donna, now 48, wrote a touching tribute on her Facebook page.

She said: “[It has been] 46 years since we last seen you Sandy – living without you has been tough.

“We all want you home, not knowing where you are is a living nightmare.

Chief Inspector Alan Paterson, local area commander, said: “Our investigation into Sandy Davidson’s disappearance remains open and it is reviewed each year.

“On this, the 46th year since he went missing, our thoughts very much remain with his family.
