Hearts got the better of Hibs for the second time with a week with a Scottish Cup semi final victory at Hampden.
They were two goals up within 21 minutes thanks to strikes from Ellis Simms and Stephen Kingsley before Chris Cadden struck one back for Shaun Maloney ‘s side minute later.
The Gorgie side rode a storm for parts of the second half but a sending off for Hibs ‘ Joe Newell all but sealed the outcome of the tie with 25 minutes to play.
Robbie Neilson put faith in the side that beat Hibs 3-1 at Tynecastle last week and they didn’t let him down.
Here’s how the Hearts players rated on the day as they got the Edinburgh Derby bragging rights once again.
CRAIG GORDON : Produced a save that was every bit as impressive – and important – as the goals. The keeper brilliantly diverted a Ryan Porteous header on to the post at 2-1 and held firm at the end. You expect no less. 8
TOBY SIBBICK : Never looked comfortable and Hibs could sense it. They targeted the defender and he coughed up the ball on the way to Cadden grabbing a lifeline.
CRAIG HALKETT : A class act. The centre back often read the danger before it materialised and was cool in possession to allow the Jambos to spring out from the back. Injury was cruel. 7
STEPHEN KINGSLEY : Hampden has witnessed some moments of magic but the defender’s strike for the second is right up there. A brilliant display capped by a sublime set-piece effort. 8
NATHANIAL ATKINSON : Heavily involved in the opening period when his pressing forced Hibs on the retreat. Tucked in for a more disciplined role after the interval as Hearts were the ones who had to dig it out. 6
ALEX COCHRANE : Snapped at the heels of Paul McGinn to set up the opening goal and constantly brought energy in the middle of the park. 6
PETER HARING : A real steady influence in the Hearts engine room. In control during an impressive first half but had to dig in to protect his back four after the break. 6
ANDY HALLIDAY : Helped Hearts get a grip of the midfield as he harassed Hibs out of possession numerous times. Clearly hampered by injury but battled on until being replaced just before the break. 6
BARRIE MCKAY : Showed some neat turns of pace and touches but suffered from being active in the busiest areas of the pitch. There wasn’t much space to operate but always carried a danger. 7
ELLIS SIMMS : The frontman was a handful even before he hit the back of the net with a superbly stuck opener. Put himself about and caused a ton of problems. 7
LIAM BOYCE : One of those days when the ball didn’t quite bounce his way but he still led the line and dragged defenders all over the shop. Role in the opener and should have scored before the break. 6

AARON MCENEFF (for Halliday, 40) : Couldn’t get involved as much as he would have liked in an attacking capacity as the traffic was mainly going in the opposite direction. 5
TAYLOR MOORE (for Halkett, 51) : Took a bit of time to settle as he came on when Hibs were banging on the door. Had a few nervy moments and lucky not to get s second yellow. 5
CAMMY DEVLIN (for Kingsley, 86) : Provided some more legs for the late mission to cling on for the win. 4
