The Assam woman who fought to win back her Indian citizenship

It is a burning problem in Assam. In 1951, the state began tape-recording details of its locals in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) – its function was to identify who was born in the state and was Indian, and who might be a migrant from East Pakistan, as neighbouring Bangladesh, a Muslim-majority country, was understood then.
