The vicious circle that could arise from the customs tariffs proposed by Trump

To the editor: That of President-elect Donald Trump proposed prices on products imported from Mexico will seriously disrupt the Mexican economy, which could lead to layoffs and increased unemployment in that country. This situation could increase the flow of Mexican migrants seeking employment in the United States.

Ironically, these same migrants could likely find work in the factories and farms whose workers will be expelled under Trump’s proposed mass expulsion policy. Talk about a vicious circle.

To the editor: “Mexico, Canada and China react to Trump comments, they and economists wonder if he is serious” — this subtitle evokes a line from the film “Patton”, where, before a big battle, the general shouts to his subordinates that if they do, To succeed, “let no one come back alive!” »

Someone responds: “You know, General, sometimes men don’t know when you’re playing. » The general replies that it’s not important for them to know, “it’s only important for me to know.”

It is not excluded that Trump uses this strategy when negotiating with other entities, whether national leaders, politicians or the media.
