The St. Regis is celebrating a milestone halfway around the world, where the hotel brand began.
The company recently opened its 60th property: the St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai. The 192-key hotel is the St. Regis’ second opening in the city and combines the brand’s New York glamor with touches that honor Shanghai’s history.
Designed by Norman Foster and Heatherwick Studio, the property features an elegant exterior and an Art Deco-inspired interior, reminiscent of 1920s Shanghai. The latter is full of magnolia motifs, Su embroidery and more than 70 works of art originals. Rooms, meanwhile, include 13 suites with residential-style layouts and views of the Huangpu River and the surrounding Bund district. The signature St. Regis butler service is of course also included.
When it comes to amenities, the hotel emphasizes its culinary delights. The St. Regis Brasserie is open all day and serves Chinese and Western cuisine, while Celestial Court is an upscale Chinese restaurant designed for celebrations and large gatherings. The St. Regis Bar pays homage to the chain’s New York roots, serving the brand’s signature Bloody Mary, along with drinks like the Bund Snapper, Shanghai five-spice, zaolu rice wine vinegar and osmanthus. And by the end of the year, the property will add the lounge, intended for light meals and refreshments like afternoon tea or an evening champagne sabrage.
If you’re coming to Shanghai to relax, you need look no further than the St. Regis Spa, with three private spaces and treatments that combine modern skincare with ancient practices. You can also work out whenever you want at the 24-hour fitness center.
