Are Pittsburgh and Nashville threatening changes?
Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey NOW: The first month continues to get more and more astray for teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators. The Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals on Friday night, but the start left more question marks than answers.
Then there are the Nashville Predators. Kyle Dubas was spotted watching the Nashville Predators the other night while the Washington Capitals entertained the team across ‘Broadway’. With both teams underperforming, it made sense.
Now, it’s interesting to note that Dubas and Barry Trotz want to build a competitive team while accumulating draft picks over the next few seasons. By the way, both teams feature an aging roster.
NHL Rumors: Nashville won’t rush into coaching decision
Maybe the question isn’t Nashville’s coach but Pittsburgh’s. It’s a little secret that Mike Sullivan is in the hot seat despite the position of several actors including Sydney Crosby. Having Erik Karlsson And Kris Letang on the same list has been an adventure so far.
Stay tuned to both teams as these stories seem far from over.
The Nashville conflict creates opportunities?
Finn Marceau of The Hockey News: Concern about the Predators leaving Nashville possibly creates opportunities for other teams. One of them is the Edmonton Oilers, who have struggled themselves. However, they have already come out of it several times. The funny thing is, so is Nashville.
Either way, maybe Barry Trotz shouldn’t have said the word reconstruction. Retool was probably the right choice of words. However, there is no doubt that elements of his aging squad have not started well this season. Romain Josi He looks a lot like Erik Karlsson. It’s not good.
NHL Rumors: Frustration but no panic for Nashville yet
The problem lies in the fact that parts potentially match? Edmonton wants to find a stay-at-home partner for the nurse. Although the Oilers may not be very fond of Alexandre Carrier. His contract is interesting ($3.75 million AAV, 3 more years). However, he doesn’t drive the game much.
Would Nashville even consider unloading Carrier? Could Edmonton reuse the defenseman? These are good questions whose answers are not clear. Several teams must find solutions quickly, otherwise this 2024-25 NHL season will become lost.
