The first week of the 2024-25 NBA season has been extremely tough for players. New Orleans Pelicans.
Having already lost Trey Murphy has a tight right hamstring during the pre-season and Defeat Murray has a fractured left hand In the Pelicans’ season opener, New Orleans now faces an extended period without two more of its best players.
Herb Jones suffered a sprained right shoulder and a small, low-grade partial tear in his rotator cuff. His recovery time is approximately 2-4 weeks and his return to play will depend on his response to treatment and rehabilitation.

The team announced Friday that the forward Herbert Jones suffered a strained right shoulder and torn rotator cuff and will be out for two to four weeks, depending on how he responds to treatment and rehabilitation. Additionally, keep CJ McCollum suffered a right adductor strain that is expected to keep him outside for two to three weeks.
Jones averaged 6.8 points in four games this season. He averaged 10.1 points per game in his four NBA seasons. In his first four games, McCollum averaged 18.8 points. The 12-year veteran has scored 19.1 points per game in his career.
Add in Murphy’s 14.8 points per game from last season and Murray’s career averages of 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists, and that’s a lot of production the Pelicans will miss.
New Orleans hopes to have Murphy back in about a week. Just before the NBA rookie extension deadline, he signed a four-year, $112 million contract. Murray could miss another three to five weeks.
As expected, all four players are listed on Pelicans injury report for Friday’s match against Indiana Pacers. Additionally, guard Jordan Hawkins and centers Yves Missi and Daniel Theis are listed as questionable. These three players appeared in Wednesday’s 104-89 loss At Warriors of the Golden State.
