Youtube face-to-face daily: Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk on the New York Rangers and whether all the trade speculation is more smoke than fire.
**Transcript from NHLRumors.com
Yaremchuk: “A little smoke, fire, false alarm for you, Frank, on a few situations around the league, starting with the New York Rangers. Some say they might be looking or really want to shake up this list. Smoke, fire, is this a legitimate business discussion, or is this maybe a general manager just trying to throw a little grenade into the room and say, “Hey, wake up, boys.”
Seravalli: “I think it’s more smoke than fire. Look, I don’t doubt for a second that the Rangers are willing and/or intrigued by the possibility of giving this team a boost. I don’t think there is a message here, because I don’t believe this information came specifically from the New York Rangers. I think it comes from other teams who Chris DruryI had a dialogue with.
NHLRumors: Nashville Predators still want to make changes
So the fact that he spoke to others would indicate that this certainly has some validity. I think when you look at some of the players that have been mentioned, Jacob oven, Chris Kreiderlike they’re still really impactful pieces. And I know a lot of Rangers fans, including our friend Johnny Lazarus, would seem to be indicating that the sky is falling if you hadn’t seen the kind of dark late night video of Johnny that he posted last night, basically sobbing over the stream. Rangers state.
Look, I understand why people are frustrated, but let’s think about the bigger picture. They are. They have been one of the best teams in the league in recent years. They arguably have the best goalie in the game. And yes, he needs a new contract, and yes, Artémi Panarin will enter the final year of his contract next year and could sign an extension this summer.
We’re talking about big, meaningful changes, and I think there’s interest in Trouba and Kreider? There certainly would be. But I feel like maybe we’re talking about a player that could move here, and not a drastic core change, because I don’t know how realistic that is either. They’re committed to a lot of these guys.
