Life on Mars could thrive deep underground

A specific area on Mars has been identified as a potential location for current life – organisms living far below the surface.

Andrea Butturini at the University of Barcelona in Spain and colleagues studied possible locations on Mars that could welcome life. They focused on areas likely to have the quantities of water, heat and energy necessary for life to exist.
