As the most anticipated World Series in decades kicks off this week in Los Angeles, city leaders say a massive effort is underway to ensure the Fall Classic and other local events go off without a hitch .
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and other local leaders announced a comprehensive plan Thursday to prepare for a full series of events beginning Friday and running through the weekend, including the first game of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees.
Bass said the city is preparing to welcome visitors while ensuring safety, minimizing traffic and showcasing its cultural landmarks.
Where to watch the World Series in Los Angeles
“We are working to ensure the city is safe, traffic is minimized, and visitors and Angelenos can enjoy the many attractions, culture, food, and neighborhoods that make Los Angeles an iconic international destination,” Bass said.
Below are some of the efforts Los Angeles and its regional partners plan to implement in the coming days:
Traffic and safety measures

Expanded Metro Service: Additional service on metro lines A, B/D and E will be available, as well as an increase Dodger Stadium Express Bus.

Deploy traffic police: More than 100 Los Angeles Department of Transportation officers will manage the flow of cars near major events.

Specialized traffic management: LADOT Special Traffic Operations will implement plans for efficient access to venues, including Dodger Stadium Express lane adjustments.

Real-time traffic monitoring: The Automated Transportation Systems and Coordination Center will manage congestion at major intersections.
Security Efforts

Visibility of law enforcement: Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department will be deployed to the event grounds and pedestrian corridors to provide security.

Emergency services: The Los Angeles Fire Department is coordinating with the Dodgers Public Safety Team for medical support.

Air traffic: LAX expects increased traffic ahead of the World Series, with guidance for early arrivals and pre-reservation services for departing guests.
Supporting businesses

Help for local businesses: THE Business concierge of the Mayor’s Office will provide resources to help businesses benefit from the influx of visitors. Additionally, the new “ProcureLA” program aims to prepare businesses for upcoming events like the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.
The city is also hosting watch parties for Game 4 of the World Series at the El Sereno Recreation Center, the Algin Sutton Recreation Center, the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center and the Michelle and Barack Obama Sports Complex. Additional watch parties will be held for Games 5-7, if necessary.
These watch evening events will include entertainment, activities and a Play in LA sports zone for children to inspire the “next generation of world champions”.
“My message is that Los Angeles is ready – ready to host the World Series, ready to welcome visitors from here and abroad, and we are ready to win,” Bass said. “Go Dodgers!”
In addition to Game 1 of the World Series, Friday will also feature USC vs. Rutgers at the LA Coliseum, the Phoenix Suns vs. the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena and the 89th East LA Classic between James A. Garfield High School and Theodore Roosevelt. High school taking place at SoFi Stadium. The Lakers will also host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.
World Series and other events causing likely traffic nightmare in Los Angeles Friday
The Intuit Dome will host English singer-songwriter David Gilmour on Friday, and the Kia Forum will host two evenings of performances by classic rock band Electric Light Orchestra, or at least Jeff Lynne’s ELO, on Friday and Saturday.
