Heidi Klum and her husband Tom Kaulitz shot for the moon Thursday night, transforming ET into alien characters for the model’s annual Halloween party.
The “America’s Got Talent” and “Project Runway” star always goes all out for Halloween. Last year, she transformed into a multi-person peacock after dressing up as an elaborate butterfly, a worm, a twitchy corpse and Fiona from “Shrek.” to name a few, as well as memorably grow old.
This time around, she once again took inspiration from a Hollywood classic, enlisting a team of prosthetics and special effects makeup professionals to create Thursday’s alien costumes. Kaulitz played the classic version of the titular alien in Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film, while Klum played the disguised version from ET. Both sported the alien’s glowing finger.
“From the moment I started imagining my costume for the 25th year of #HeidiHalloween, I was inspired by one of my favorite movies,” Klum, 51, wrote Friday on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes video of the costume that lasted for hours. process.
“When I was nine years old in Germany, ET introduced me to the idea that there was life outside of planet Earth. So last year we all brainstormed together to figure out how to put my own stamp on such an iconic character,” she wrote. “I know ET wanted to go home, but I would hope that if the movie took place in 2024, my favorite alien would come to my party instead of him.”
Klum’s 23rd annual Halloween party was held at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City and featured many famous guests. Earlier this week, Klum said The United States today that his annual party was a result of there being few “really cool” Halloween party options in New York. Klum’s party and elaborate costumes have become a pop culture touchstone for the holiday, and she kicked off the event earlier this week with a symbolic lighting of the Empire State Building.
On Thursday, Klum and Kaulitz’s faces appeared through the necks of their respective costumes, which featured 3D-printed costumes and digital sculptures on their heads to mimic ET’s animatronic noggin.
An artist working on the project described it as an innovative “complete film construction”. Klum also confirmed that she would have to wear adult diapers to get through the night without having to use the bathroom.
“Thank you to my husband for being the best sport and always dressing up with me year after year and thank you to the best and most talented team who made my wildest dream come true and turned it into reality. Couldn’t do it without you,” Klum added in her caption.
Also in attendance were Klum’s daughter Leni, who also dressed as an alien, Kelsea Ballerini and her boyfriend Chase Stokes dressed as Danny and Sandy from “Grease”, Nicole Scherzinger as her blood-soaked daughter. Character from “Sunset Boulevard” and TikToker Charli D’Amelio as a “Black Swan” ballerina.
Questlove was the DJ for the event, and Bethenny Frankel, Marc Jacobs, Eric Andre, the Elevator Boys, Ice T and Coco, Jay Manuel and Jonathan Van Ness were also among the guests.
Here on the West Coast, Grammy winner Janelle Monáe played the same iconic character from the 80s for the Halloween party she organized in Los Angeles. His ET costume featured animatronic eyes, a yellow index finger, and the creature’s distinctive voice.
Addressing the Associated Press On pairing with Klum, Monáe paid tribute to her New York counterpart: “There can be two Hallo-queens. I love Heidi.
