A nine-bedroom mansion on a 53-acre gated estate in Grayslake was listed Tuesday for $9.975 million.
Known as Eagle Nest Manor, the estate has long been owned by Michele Giambrone and her late husband William, who co-founded Platinum Home Mortgage with her brother Michael. William Giambrone died on August 5 at the age of 60. Michele Giambrone and her husband have owned the property for more than two decades.
Built in 1989, the estate’s 8,974-square-foot brick main mansion features six full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a theater room, game room and sauna. Outside the estate are a large number of features including three stocked fishing vouchers, English gardens, mature fruit trees, three fire pits, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, swimming pool with pool house, bath hot tub open all year round, an outdoor shower, a sports field, a volleyball court, a gazebo, golf holes, a putting green, honey bee colonies and a barn with several garage spaces .
Listing agent Kimberly Shortsle of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago, who is co-listing the estate with Carleigh Goldsberry of the same company, declined to comment on the listing. The property is currently listed only in the real estate agents’ private classifieds network.
The estate’s three parcels together had a property tax bill of $46,265 for the 2023 tax year, according to Lake County records. The Lake County assessor gives these three parcels a fair market value of $1.96 million, less than a fifth of its asking price.
