When the votes are counted in the U.S. presidential election, will it be the gender gap, the income gap, the Latino vote, or the media and marketing campaigns that prove decisive?
CNBC senior economics reporter Steve Liesman spoke with four polling experts for an in-depth look at the data to see which ones could tip the election to either vice president. Kamala Harris or former president Donald Trump. The panel included NBC News national political correspondent Steve Kornacki; Mark Murray, senior political editor of NBC News; Micah Roberts, partner at Public Opinion Strategies and CNBC Republican pollsters; and Hart Research partner and CNBC Democratic pollster Jay Campbell.
The conclusion? Yes, it’s probably the economy. But it is also other factors, such as character and turnout, which candidate represents change, which one generates enthusiasm, and which one convincing voters ultimately decide to support, that will help determine the outcome.
