Mysterious flashes of radio waves from space could be caused by interstellar asteroids and comets crashing into neutron stars.
Astronomers have detected the first rapid radio burst (FRB) in 2007, and several thousand have found since. They are thought to come from neutron stars, the ultra-dense cores left after some stars explode into supernovae, but their exact cause is unclear.
