Police hope to solve the 15-year-old case by shaking people’s memories with a hologram of the murdered sex worker.
Betty Szabó, a 19-year-old sex worker, was brutally murdered and stabbed more than 70 times behind the window where she was advertising in the city’s red light district.
The author is still at large.
Anne Dreijer-Heemskerk, a member of the Amsterdam police’s cold case department, said the hologram was created in “the hope that people will remember the case again when they see this.” .
Dreijer-Heemskerk explained that previous police efforts to find the perpetrator had failed due to a lack of cooperation from witnesses.
“There are certainly several people who know who committed this crime,” she added.
Szabó left Hungary for the Netherlands at the age of 18 and gave birth to a son just three months before she was killed.
Police are offering a €30,000 reward for information leading to his killer.
