The LA Dodgers fan who had an exploding firework in his hand during a viral World Series celebration gone wrong last week has lost two of his fingers, his father announced this week.
Kevin King Sr. said Fox 11 Los Angeles his 25 year old son, Kevin King Jr.is now without an index or middle finger on his left hand… and has already undergone two surgeries to repair the damage caused by the fireworks.
Unfortunately, King Sr. said King Jr. would soon require a third procedure.
King Sr. also said his son suffered hearing loss in both ears…but somehow doctors told him everything could have been even worse.
“I’m just watching the video alone,” King Sr. said, “they don’t understand how he got away with his injuries. He protected 98 percent of his face from the blast.”
King Jr. is currently recovering in a hospital in Southern California. According to his family, it is not yet known whether he will be able to return to his job in the oil industry once he is back to 100 percent.
A GoFundMe set up to help King Jr. with medical bills has already reached nearly $10,000.
