NHL Rumors: Have the Pittsburgh Penguins Consider Trading Tristan Jarry?
Gord Stellick: “Hey, quick, last question, because we started Marc-André Fleurythen we talked about the Penguins. So, could there be a change of coach? I mean, what do you think could be the first domino that could happen if they looked in that direction? »
Elliotte Friedman: “You know, I asked myself that question just because you’re wondering, like, is it time for a new voice or something? I also like that they have a lot of breakdowns, especially in their D zone, and I don’t think that’s just a coaching concern.
I’ve seen some of the goals you look like, there was one in particular in Vancouver with Erik Karlsson that you looked at and said, Hey, you know, you can’t blame the coaches. But I think the reason I would say prepare for it, Gordie, is the way it’s going right now.
The Pittsburgh Penguins’ problems don’t all fall on Kyle Dubas
I think there are a lot of things that could use a fresh coat of paint right now. You don’t want to overreact. Things could change. But when you come back to it, you kind of look at it and say this could be quite important. You know, obviously, trade protection and things like that play a very important role in these kinds of situations. But it’s been going on long enough that even though this year is still relatively fresh, you look at the last two years and say it’s more than these last six games.
So yes, I think you should keep an eye on all the options. I think one thing the Penguins know is that if they change coaches, Mike Sullivan will be out of work for as long as Mike Sullivan wants him to be. There have already been teams wondering: would he be available?
And once he becomes available, some teams are going to go after him. So I don’t think Sullivan has anything to worry about, but I think even that yes potentially needs to be part of the conversation.
Scott Laughlin: “And Mike, of course, has his responsibilities with USA Hockey. And we know, Kyle Dubas has this card to play. He’s not his man, so to speak, and he inherited that along the way, when he moved from Toronto to Pit.
NHL Rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins and Marcus Pettersson
Friedman: “I don’t think he really thinks like that, to be quite honest.”
Laughlin: “It’s true. if and when this change is made Friedge, if and when this change is made, that’s what they will say. Well, he was never Kyle’s guy, and now Kyle has the ability, like any general manager, to make a coaching change, at least midstream.
Friedman: “Yes, that’s true. But I don’t think Dubas likes to be honest. If Dubas had to do it last, would he do it this way? We probably would have said last summer, when, when Keefe was available.
Laughlin: “That’s a good point.”
