Alan Rachins — an actor best known for two popular ’90s TV shows — has died…according to reports.
The actor died in his sleep of heart failure early Saturday morning according to The Hollywood Reporter who quotes his wife, actress Joanna Frank.

Rachins made his screen debut in the mid-1970s… appearing in small roles in a number of shows and TV movies. His big breakthrough came in 1986 when his brother Steven Bochco — a famous television producer — cast him in the role of Douglas Brackman, Jr. in the hit legal drama “LA Law.”
AR appeared in 171 episodes of the series over its eight seasons…for which he received both a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination. He also got to star alongside his wife Joanna in the role – playing an estranged couple perpetually at odds.
He also starred in the controversial NC-17 rated film “Showgirls” in 1995… before returning to television with his role as Larry Finkelstein during the five seasons of “Dharma & Greg”.
His other credits include… “General Hospital”, “Rugrats”, “The Spectacular Spider-Man”, “Happy Endings”, “The Crazy Ones”, “Young Sheldon”, “Grey’s Anatomy” and many more.
Rachins also had several writing credits…writing an episode of the ’80s TV show “The Fall Guy” that inspired the Ryan Gosling film of the same name released this year.
Alan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joanna and their son Robert.
He was 82 years old.
