Comic Dave Chappelle has released another controversial unique on Netflix. Why is everybody calling out Chappelle?
Comic Dave Chappelle has actually launched another controversial special on Netflix. Hes known for questionable jokes about the LGBTQ+ community– particularly trans folks. This time, he might have gone too far. Why is everyone calling out Chappelle? This is why Dave Chappelle was difficult to cancel.
Dave Chappelle's brand has become synonymous with ridiculing trans people and other marginalized communities. Negative reviews and viewers loudly condemning his latest special is a message to the industry that audiences don't support platforming anti-LGBTQ diatribes. We agree. https://t.co/yOIyT54819

🗣️Trans women are women.
Trans men are men.
Non-binary people are non-binary.

As a trans woman, I have usually defended Dave Chappelle’s specials because I think they’re hilarious and his jokes about trans women never felt intentionally malicious.
The Closer changed my mind on that. That special felt so lazy and disingenuous and I’m really disappointed.

I work at @netflix. Yesterday we launched another Chappelle special where he attacks the trans community, and the very validity of transness – all while trying to pit us against other marginalized groups. You're going to hear a lot of talk about "offense".
We are not offended 🧵

I will not work with them as long as they continue to put out and profit from blatantly and dangerously transphobic content.

Netflix has reinstated me after finding that there was no ill-intent in my attending the QBR meeting. I've included the statement I requested below.
I'm going to take a few days off to decompress and try to figure out where I'm at. At the very least, I feel vindicated. pic.twitter.com/lYxemYgRkJ

I love all the love @Disclosure_Doc is getting, but I’d like to clarify that Netflix did not produce or commission our doc. They purchased the streaming rights for less than half of what it cost to make and relied on us to promote it. Most of us paid our own way to Sundance.
