Some said they were scared to be important, while @qimoshanrenruyushenglizhe commented: “Dont be scared. I am publishing too. If everybody stays quiet, then this country is finished.”
,” the individual said.

Social media users have actually been scolding China state-owned media, which is tightly controlled by the judgment Chinese Communist Party (CCP), over their failure to report on a deepening scandal surrounding an imprisoned Shanghai business owner who raped and enslaved ladies, holding them captive in a brothel for the famous and abundant.
Zhao Fuqiang, a previous tailor who started out requiring rural females to operate in low-priced brothels camouflaged as beauty parlor in Shanghai, before expanding to use a glitzy bordello experience to higher-end customers, was sentenced to a suspended death sentence in September 2020 for rape and other offenses.
The full scary of his “Red Mansion,” described in recent media exposes as a “hell on earth built from the blood and tears of women,” has only just been made understood, triggering social media users to demand why state media has so far remained quiet on the story.
According to the posts, Zhao would entice women to the whorehouse for “job interviews,” in some cases raping them, forcing them to have sex with his clients, and threatening to reveal videos and images of these encounters, should they try to leave. He also forcibly gathered their eggs and offered them on the black market, leaving a minimum of one lady infertile due to botched treatments.
” You didnt attempt to report on the Red Mansion story in Shanghai … instead you simply keep banging on about the U.S. and the U.K. the whole time,” user @harpistwhopedals wrote under a story published by the CCPs official paper, the Peoples Daily, on Tuesday.
” This country is getting more and more like North Korea; you really take us for fools.”
User @AL De Niro concurred.
” Leave the BBC alone,” they said under a Peoples Daily post about criticism of the U.K. broadcaster from foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian.
” No-one cares about them; everybody appreciates when your newspaper will speak up on behalf of [the victims of] the Red Mansion in Shanghai!”
User @yutianzuilekounaigair questioned if the media truly was on the side of victims, and the least powerful in society.
” The media, in the last analysis, belongs of the system that rules over us, and represents the will of the powers that be,” the user composed. “I really feel that we have a long, long method to go to being civilized, democratic and equivalent.”
” The media has lost its voice, and the platforms are pulling hot search topics, all about a big criminal offense story that everyone already knows about, since it breaks the relevant regulations.”
Approaches of coercion, control
A user with the deal with @Worry- totally free sis contacted females to neglect attempts to use slut-shaming as a method of browbeating and control.
” Countless female murder cases have actually shown us that men can do whatever they desire with their victims, even if they have taken nude pictures or videos of them,” the user wrote, mentioning the Shanghai Red Mansions case.
@Take the moonlight 22V included: “So far, neither the Womens Daily, the Peoples Daily nor CCTV news have had a single report on this.”
Some said they were afraid to be crucial, while @qimoshanrenruyushenglizhe commented: “Dont hesitate. I am posting too. We are in the right. If everybody stays quiet, then this country is finished.”
@Pogalazi commented: “Nowadays all the news media and movies we can see simply preach politically appropriate material, and yet there is all this complicated stuff going under the so-called beauty.”
” Such a network of dark forces and vested interests.”
Zhao was discovered guilty of rape, organized prostitution, fraud and “forced transactions,” by the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate Peoples Court on Sept. 22, 2020, along with a host of property-related rule-breaking and paying off local officials.
He was handed a death sentence suspended for 2 years, which typically gets travelled to life imprisonment, while his accomplices were handed jail terms varying from 2 years and six months to 20 years, state media reported at the time.
While online remarks appeared to focus their ire on state media, many others were asking how such an operation might have flown under the radar of law enforcement for so long.
On Dec. 6, user @blueprinttone commented: “This is fucking 2021!!! In Shanghai !!! That metropolis with its huge security net to secure everyone!!!!.”.
” Now theyve pulled the hot search subject, I heard,” the user composed. “Who is accountable for those ladies held under home arrest by Zhao Fuqiang, who were mistreated and developed into sex slaves, had their eggs gathered … and for the innocent kids born as a result?”.
Among those who were jailed together with Zhao were former Yangpu District Committee standing committee member Lu Yan, who headed the district branch of the CCPs powerful legal and political affairs committee, which directs police, and Ren Yongfei, a former president of the Yangpu District Peoples Court, who protected him.
Bad guys, police frequently tied.
A former police from the southern city of Guangzhou, who gave just the label Alex, stated close ties in between the criminal underworld and regional law enforcement arent uncommon in China.
And yet, the Shanghai case still shocked him, he told RFA in a recent interview.
” If Im sincere, there was a cop in Guangzhou 10 years ago who was associated with something similar, but it was nowhere near as bad as this,” Alex stated. “This case type of obstructed out the sun, it was so huge.”.
” From the viewpoint of the regional cops, its difficult to see why they would take such a big danger for a pimp, for so little benefit.”.
A previous Shanghai policeman, who asked to remain confidential, said that when local authorities have themselves end up being implicated in such operations, either as clients, or for accepting bribes to look the other method, the ties that bind them can continue for many years.
” People are ruled by feeling, and after more than 10 years of conditioning, its easy to get them [on board],” the individual stated. “After that, it becomes entrenched, and all kinds of beneficial interests get knotted in it.”.
” [Zhao] should have invested a long period of time operating in Yangpu District, to the point where he had all of his connections where he wanted them, including his intelligence networks,” the former Shanghai policeman said. “At a specific point, [Zhao] should have felt omnipotent.”.
To run his underworld empire for more than a years, Zhao needs to have co-opted not simply policeman, but judges, members of the CCPs political and legal affairs network, and government officials, including from regional market and commerce bureaus, the former Shanghai police officer said.
” Its certainly inadequate to arrange out the local Public Security Bureau alone,” they said..
” You would need to get other legal and political firms on side too, consisting of the courts, and the prosecutors office.”.
